Volvo Engine Torque Rod (Urethane Upgrade) - Pro Parts Sweden

Located at transmission and cross member

Your Volvo's engine torque rod is an integral part in keeping the engine from moving too much under load. Located at the transmission and cross member, it essentially anchors the engine in place. When you accelerate this component hold the lower part of the engine and transmission in place. Over the years this component sees a lot of stress and will develop play. If the torque rod has play you will notice excessive engine vibration and in extreme circumstances it may feel like the engine is literally flopping around in the engine bay.

This upgrades torque rod design has polyurethane bushings which will not flex as much as the standard rubber bushing will. It is the perfect solution for stock Volvo's as well as modified Volvo's where added durability is desired. We do want to note that extra engine vibration may be felt due to the stiffer bushing design.

Common Fault Symptoms

  • Engine Vibration
  • Drivetrain Vibration
  • Uneven Engine surface
  • Engine Rock during gear changes
  • Engine Rock during braking

Volvo Engine Torque Rod (Urethane Upgrade)

As expected, perfect fit

Install was straightforward, quality seems comparable, if not better than factory mount. Definitely like that its cast instead of stamped steel. No noticeable increased NVH due to the harder poly bushings. Definite improvement in feel of transmission shifts, no more slop from disintegrated bushings and my clunk shifting to reverse has gone away. Thanks FCP!

alot of vibration but I'm use to it now after installing a few months ago . I just hope it last longer then the OEM Rubber .

Works okay. There are better mounts out there. When removing the old mount - don't remove the plastic around the rubber. The new mount will not fill that void cleanly.

Item fits perfect and does a great job. On the old one the small bushing was completely separated and caused a massive shimmy now its gone.

Fits Perfect.

Fit just fine. Those with automatics will feel more vibrations in the cabin but the shifts are improved ten-fold for both auto and manual cars. The nuts on it do get rusty to coat them with something. Other wise great value.

The noise and vibration were intolerable. I had poly mounts before and they were okay in another volvo. These were terrible. I adjusted them 3 times and could not get them usable. Replaced them with oem volvo. Much better.

Excellent Transmission Mount

I had previously purchased a Hutchinson mount and when shifting started to get sloppy I pulled the part off of the car, finding it had very little support to it when flexed with my hands. It was pretty much shot after about 30k, so I decided to give this a try. I had considered an iPD mount, but didn't want to spend big bucks for a machined billet aluminum part (this is a daily driver with dents and dings, not a show car), and I didn't want to take the time to retrofit urethane bushings into a stock mount. This transmission mount allowed me to quickly, easily, and inexpensively change a failure prone part for a more durable one. There is more vibration into the cabin of the vehicle, but after installing few other urethane mounts and the solid strut brace mounts I have come to expect vibration, but have rarely noticed increased vibration other than while idling.

Perfect

Works great, slight increase in vibration. But engine is now solid.

Bought this poly mount to replace the smaller rubber insert on my P2 V70 2.4 NA. No added vibrations with the factory rubber top mount and the drivetrain feels a lot tighter now! Can't go wrong for the price.

Good, Cheap Replacement For Cruddy Oem Rubber Mount

So far so good. Install is really easy. Noticed a little more vibration at idle but its not bad at all. I have a manual transmission s60R and the shifting feels better for sure.

Great Addition (But!)

Its a really worthwhile upgrade. Took some modification to fit my car but once its on you will notice crisper shifting and better transmission feel. BUT! Keep in mind with any type of polyurethane bushings you need to adjust it. The two bolts that connect it to the sub-frame actually tighten to two slots on the sub-frame allowing you to adjust so you don't get vibration at idle in Drive. I adjusted my Torque Rod by leaving the two bolts on the sub-frame loose, then putting my car on a full vehicle lift and having someone sit in the car and shift into drive and then re-tightening the bolts. I give it 4/5 stars as it was not the exact same design my car had causing slight clearance issues. Thats probably my fault though, I may be going against the FCP Fitment guide.

It is a well-made and solid torque rod but adds vibration. It was a little too much for my taste.

I bought this mount at the beginning of the year and put in my '98 V70 T5. I had significant vibration (which was to be expected) but the vibration caused something else to rattle. I hoped that after I completed installing the other 4 mounts and the upper bushing the rattle would go away. That wasn't case. Replaced this part with a Hutchinson part (which is OEM according to FCP) this morning and the rattle is now gone. Kudos go out to FCP for their Lifetime warranty as I was allowed to apply the cost of this mount to the cost of the Hutchinson mount. If I were doing this job for the first time, I'd avoid this mount and go with the Hutchinson OEM. Price difference isn't that great and the part is really easy to install.

I've driven maybe 500 miles with it, but wow! what a difference. Firm shifts. No more jolting. Very easy to install. Old rubber one was shot so I decided to go with one I'll never have to change again. Awesome product, thanks FCP!

Upgrade

A perfect fit, fitted with top mount at same time. More engine feel in the cabin but certainly a required replacement for my utterly destroyed existing units. Happy.
