I bought cheaper brakes from a local auto parts store because they were a lot cheaper than the OEM ones. (I made the same mistake with my fuel pump). After a few thousand miles they were squeaking like crazy. I asked my mechanic about it and he said that aftermarket brake pads dont match the quality of the original Volvo ones. He said you can sand the top of the brake pads to remove the squeaking, but I didnt want to do that every few weeks. Bit the bullet and bought volvo ones. No noise at all over the last 12k miles.
