I've used this product before on my E46 this is good stuff. If you change your oil regularly and not the 15000 mile interval BMW says, I changed mine at 7000 on synthetic of course the sludge gets broken down slowly, if you have any I never had a sludge problem the proof was there when I did my VANOS seals at 140k
