Need to include metal O ring with this for proper fit
I ordered both the BMW and INA time chain tensioner products from FCP Euro. The INA tensioner does not come with metal O ring and this lead to improper fitment and minor oil leakage. This should be included or mandatory add on.

This part is just as good as the one that was originally installed in my car. Quality is great and price tag is better. It's the real manufacturer of the part for BMW anyway. Save some money instead of paying almost the double just to have the BMW logo on it.

e39 540s are prone to issues with the timing guides and rattle on startup if you let this maintenance part go. At 115000 or so was money very well spent and an easy 10 minute fix. Do yourself a big favor and do this if you have not. It completely quiets the startup valve rattle on my 2003 540 sport. If the chain slap causes your lower timing chain guides to fail you will wish you had spent this small purchase. Engine can be totaled if the chain guides fail and the lower chain slips. Btw do not install this with a universal joint on your socket wrench as many DYIs suggest simply remove the air filter box and use a straight short extension that way you will get the torque correct on the install. Another good value from fcp.
