I was fairly disappointed. The Wahler thermostat included in the kit only lasted approximately 5,700 miles before it started leaking from the electrical port. I, of course, had to not only replace the thermostat, but of course coolant and time. Also, it is a good idea to look at what brand is included in the kit when ordering a warranty replacement, look at the actual sku that is included in the kit because I inadvertently ordered a different brand which cost more than the original; so, I felt I was not reimbursed correctly, but FCP was correct after I investigated. They stood behind the price - that's why I gave it a higher mark than would have otherwise.

My thermostat was stuck open causing a huge drop in MPG because the engine was never getting up to temp. This fixed the problem.

Wahler is the same brand as the OEM thermostats and was marked so on the original I removed from my 2002 325XiT. So should I be happy it is the same or bummed that it is the same as the one that eventually failed? The most difficult part of the operation was sliding out the pin from the retainer on the upper left corner of the fan shroud without breaking it; i.e. an easy job. Plenty of youtube videos on how change thermostats and water pumps. Don't know why FCP includes the bolts - mine were in perfect condition. (A good thing since the kit came with 3 of the smaller bolts and 0 of the larger.) FCP was great with their online support when I asked for the proper torques: 10 newton meters for the bolt with the 10mm head, 22 NM for the bolt with the 13mm head. It's been running fine for a week now. Good product and and easy job. If you need a new thermostat, get this kit and Do it Yourself.

I think it's great that FCP has put together these kits that allow you to get everything you need under one part number instead of having to hunt around for multiple items. Normally I wouldn't go to the trouble to replace the bolts if one hasn't snapped or shown some sign of failure, but this kit comes with all you need.
