Yep, this fixed it...glad I went with the Genuine BMW part
Our 530i had a slight thermostat housing seep that I wanted cured, Foxwell scanner showed a "sticking thermostat" code....so after gleaning much advice from longtime E39 owners, I bit the bullet and went with this unit, over the OEM equivalents for a number of reasons. Now our coolant temp is exactly where it should be, there is no more coolant seepage, and I'm not concerned about reported early failure rates of aftermarket and even the OEM units I've been told about...strange yes, but I just didn't want the headaches. The extra $ paid for the Genuine BMW was well worth it.

Well it is part of the BMW cooling system which hasn't got the best rep. Make sure the float in the expansion tank is level with the top of the tank after any work has been done. See this for detailed instructions on filling and bleeding the cooling system:

This is genuine BMW and fits and works great. FCP Euro guys are rockstars - always going above and beyond the expectations. You can't go wrong with OEM
I have done a cooling system overhaul and soft failing thermostat has been replaced with this one and now my cooling system is working perfectly.

Solved my overheating issue
Don't cheap on this, spend 2x more on original part, well worth it. Fixed my overheating issue.

Simply the best - don't waste time with non-BMW parts here
I've replaced 4 thermostats in my 530is, and the Genuine BMW ones are the only ones that last for more than 10-15k miles without failure (even Behr and Wahler failed). I've been running the Genuine BMW for more than 30k now, no problems.

The product came earlier than predicted, which is alway a good thing! It was the exact part I asked for and matched perfectly to the original BMW part on the car.
PLEASE NOTE: The housing ALREADY COMES WITH THE HOUSING GASKET, so there is no need to purchase a housing gasket if you are buying this housing!
