I should've known when my shop quoted $1200 for the job that it was going to be a painful DIY. Look at all the youtubes you can to see the good and bad videos, and if you have AWD, you'll find that most of the videos are for RWD which is a much easier job. Anyway, this first time took 6 hours. Next time will take 1-2hr. You know how it goes with BMW repairs.

Perfect and real easy to install, would recommend getting water pump also while in the same area.

After 120,000 miles on my '06 Z4 3.0si, it was finally time to replace my cooling system. As a part of that process, I bought this thermostat and have been very happy with it. The car is running at a proper temperature and I've put 5,000 miles on it since it was replaced. Great brand. Great part.

X3/M package thermostat housing
This fit perfectly (after fighting with the underside of the truck) - and the price was great! It is unfortunately the BMW design that makes installation the issue, not the part. Will definitely purchase more equipment from FCP.
