replace with pump
Go ahead and replace these if you're replacing your pump for whatever reason. They can get gummed up or leak and the part is cheap. You won't really know if you need it until you're in there.

Replacing washer pump? Replace this
What more can I say but to replace this with a new pump, it's a few bucks.

SOLID!!!!
Fit like a glove. Looked exactly like original minus the blue gunk. I'll be back for more parts soon.

Fixed the leak!
After installing this and a hose clamp on the outlet of the pump I have no more leaks. Part is exactly what you think it is.

For that extra peace of mind..
I got this strainer when my washer pump went out and I had to change it. Sometimes they can be clogged or the rubber ring where the pump sits can harden and leak. Simple swap worth the peace of mind to not worry about future issues.
