Huge improvement
My original selector rod joint was in terrible shape and making my shifting sloppy. The new sponge in this unit took care of the issue. Two notes: 1. If you're going to replace this, make sure you get a new selector rod seal. It's a pain to get to and I wish I'd had one so I could've done it at the same time. 2. Some older versions of this part used washers on each side. These can be identified by the completely round shape where the snap ring sits. With this new version, there are flats to make snap ring removal easier. It's also a little wider, so you won't be able to fit the washers on your shift rod. No big deal, but just something to be aware of.
