Pay The Extra For The Oem Part

BMW, in my opinion, could have and should have made this part easier to install, and make it just bolt in more or less without any fiddling and more importantly, without tolerance issues. But since for whatever reason they didn't, this part, at least the one I got, doesn't quite fit. Three things: 1). There was a bit of flashing left in the socket where the door handle sits into; I filed it down just a hair and the handle then fit, but that shouldn't have been necessary. 2). There is a housing that the cable clicks into. It should take a screwdriver or at least a decent amount of hand force to dislodge the cable, but there is too much slop and it pops right out with barely any movement. 3). Most importantly, after installing the door handle itself, and making sure the cable was still seated in the housing, I could not for the life of me get the last allen bolt in, the one that secures the door handle/lock cover (small crescent shaped part adjacent to the door handle) to the door. The tolerance was off by about 1/16" which was just enough not to be able to complete the installation, after all that work. Save yourself hours of frustration and spend the extra $30 for the OEM part; trust me.
