Question Posted by Ruvim
Does this kit come with all the timing chain TOOLS needed for the job. Ex: Cam Lock tool, if not where can I find a list of all the tools needed, thanks
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
No, this does not include tools. Tools are listed under the timing tools section and also listed/linked in the included DIY video.
Question Posted by a customer
How many Km or Miiles should the timing belt be changed on a 2014 428i xd N20 ? Thank you
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
The N20 does not have a timing belt. It has a timing chain. There is no set service interval. Most N20 timing chain replacements are done due to pre-existing problems such as a noisy startup due to timing chain elongation or crank/cam timing correlation faults due to timing chain elongation. We have a two-part video series that talks about both aforementioned problems and the procedures related to the repair (click the video button in the product photos) and there is a service bulletin from BMW talking about those issues as well, SI B B11 03 17, which is publicly available on the NHTSA's website.
Question Posted by Alexander
What is the purpose of the EVO300 sealant? We forgot to use it before putting the engine back together, should we take it back apart and put this sealant somewhere? Or can the car make do without?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
The sealant is not needed. An early TIS document on xDrive vehicles suggest sealant in regards to the removal of the oil pan. The sealant use in the document was really being referenced to the bed plate which would not be touched during this repair.

Getting ready to do a timing chain job on a '12 528i X drive...Can you expand on this from a previous answer? Answer (Posted by: FCP Euro Products Team) front differential needs to be removed/can be removed while still bolted to the oil pan, Thanks for the help....
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
You can either remove the differential from the oil pan or drop the oil pan with the differential still attached. The choice is dependent upon what you are comfortable with. In both scenarios, the front axles are removed and the front drive shaft is also removed.
Question Posted by a customer
I have seen the diy install video on youtube and am wondering if there are any differences when installing on an xdrive model. If so, what are those differences? Thanks!
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Front axles need to be removed, front differential needs to be removed/can be removed while still bolted to the oil pan, front driveshaft need to be removed/unbolted from the front differential. Other than dealing with the removal of xDrive components the rest of the job remains the same.

Yes.
Question Posted by Dan
on the blue diagram what is part 16 ? looks like an orange for the crankshaft sprocket but isn't in the list.
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
#16 is called a "grip disc" in TIS and was only equipped on manual transmission cars. However, that disc is no longer used with the updated crankshaft sprocket which is included in the kit.
Question Posted by Stephen
I’m a bit confused. The fitment button says this won’t fit my car(2013 328 xdrive n20) yet in the fitment list it says it will fit a 2013 328 xdrive f30. Please clarify.
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
This kit will definitely fit a 2013 328i xDrive N20 vehicle. Not sure why the fitment confirmation is saying otherwise, seems to be a glitch.
