I replaced two ignition coils in my E53 engine: that beautiful M54. These stopped the rough idle and misfiring Would get. Now, the engine runs smooth. Sometimes when she is idling, people can't tell if the engine is running or not. Buy it.

Works but there are better options
If you do a quick Google search you will find very mixed reviews on the new style Bosch ignition coils. After one of my original coils failed on my 2004 E46, I got one of these as a temporary replacement. It works for now but I won't count on it lasting very long. I will soon be replacing all coils with Eldor units. The part number is 12138657273. They are available here on FCP and should be the best option for North American buyers. European buyers have access to many more coil brands. I would look at these instead of BOSCH: RIDEX, STARK, HELLA, ERA, HITACHI, MEAT & DORIA, MAGNETI MARELLI, BERU, BREMI, JANMOR, BOUGICORD, ABAKUS, TOPRAN, CHAMPION, ESEN SKV, JP GROUP, VEMO, FACET, MAPCO, SWAG, NGK, TESLA, TRISCAN, EPS, LIZARTE, DENCKERMANN, SIDAT, AIC, FAE, PROFIT and METZGER.
