Question Posted by a customer
How often is this service recommended, and since there is no dipstick, how would I check the fluid level between services. '08 135i conv. E88, automatic 6spd.
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
This kit is intended for removal of the mechatronic unit from the transmission, it's not a drain and fill/service kit which we also have available sold as p/n 24152333907KT1. Service interval per ZF is 80,000km (50,000,miles) or 8 years, whichever comes first, There is no way to check the fluid level outside of getting the transmission oil temp to the recommended 30-40 degree C and removing the fill plug which is ultimately not worth the effort. As long as there are no leaks you generally do not need to worry about the fill level.
Question Posted by Oscar
Can the transmisión malfunction after changing the transmission fluid.
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Not completely following the question. This kit is more than just a transmission drain and fill kit, it is intended to remove and service/replace the mechatronic (control unit) and you would not be ordering this kit just to perform a basic drain and ill service. We offer other kits specifically for that. A drain and fill service will not create issues on it's own. Issues only occur when there are other issues with the transmission such as heavy fluid contamination (due to lack of services), worn clutches inside the transmission requiring excessive adaptations for proper transmission functions, or issues with the mechatronic unit itself.

I have an 07 335i e90, production date is 2006-9-21 but it has a ZF6HP21 I’m assuming this service kit isn’t compatible with that type of transmission.?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
The 6HP21 is an updated 6HP19. BMW does not make a distinction between the 6HP19 and 6HP21 and calls it a GA6HP19Z since it's more or less the same transmission. This kit will fit your 335i as all 6HP19 and 6HP21 transmissions used by BMW use the same mounting components for the Mechatronic unit and the same oil pan/filter assembly.

Will this fit on a 2008 e90 328i
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
No. This will only fit E92 328i's up to 9/2007. Model year 2008 E90 328i's use a GA6L45R transmission. Service kits for that transmission can be found [here](/BMW-parts/328i/Auto-Trans-Service-Kit/?year=2008&m=20&e=2053).
