1997 318i

The fuel pump on my 1997 BMW 318i (M44 engine) was showing several signs of failure, including: - Check engine light P1140 (Mass or volume air flow Circuit range / Performance problem) - Long Term Fuel Trim of +25 - Hesitation under acceleration - Cylinders missing at speeds above 50 mph In addition to this fuel pump, you'll need: 1. Fuel sender seal MW-16111179637 from FCP Euro (not required, but a good idea) 2. A 3/8" or 1/2" hose clamp Replacing the pump was very easy: 1. Pull up on the front of the back seat to pop it up 2. Lift up the rubber padding on the passenger side 3. Take out the 4 screws on the fuel pump cover, and remove it 4. Use a hammer and screwdriver to tap the fuel pump ring counter-clockwise 5. Unplug the wires and pry off the factory hose clamp 6. Wiggle the pump up 7. Reassemble, using the new sender seal and hose clamp This new pump took my existing pump from 26 PSI at the fuel rail to 35+ PSI. If your pump shows anything less than about 35 PSI, replace it with this one!
