I have a 2015 F30 328i X-Drive and just watched FCP's DIY video "How To Replace BMW F30 Front Differential Fluid" (https://blog.fcpeuro.com/how-to-replace-bmw-f30-front-differential-fluid-bmw-xdrive), and at 30 seconds into the video, it is explained that the BMW Hypoid Axle Oil G2:
"...is the only gear oil currently on the market that is compatible with front the differential. BMW has moved to these lower viscosity gear oils to help reduce fuel consumption, so unfortunately a traditional 75W-90 is not going to be the best option to go with."
My question is, will Liqui Moly GL5 75W-90 cause damage or exacerbate wear in some way to the front differential that would be avoided by using the BMW Hypoid G2, or is the requirement for the BMW Hypoid G2 primarily due to lower fuel consumption?
