Most applications will use this plug for both the drain and fill plug. We can tell you with 100% certainty if you let us know the year and model of your BMW.

No special tool is required to remove or install this drain/fill plug. A 14mm allen socket on a ratchet is all that is needed.

Does this drain plug require a gasket ring (07119963355)? I have an E46 2001 325CI that calls out this part on the realoem.com website. I looked the part up on your website and it states that it does not fit my car.

I confirm that BMW's ETK also shows the gasket ring for this drain/fill plug. However, the viton seal in this plug is what seals it to the differential. There should be no reason to use the gasket ring for this application.

This drain/fill plug is specced to fit in my 325iX on realoem.com ECS tuning also says that it fits on all e30's however it says that It will not fit in my 325iX.
Is this an error ?

Yes, this drain/fill plug will fit your E30 325ix including the rear differential and front differential.
