I have a 2006 BMW X5, and I start the car and it gives me a warning sign to “CHECK COOLANT LEVEL”. How do I check the level and what brand of coolant do I need to purchase and how many bottles do I need
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
The coolant level is checked at the expansion tank which has a coolant level float. If the float is not visible it's because there is not enough coolant in the expansion tank to make the level float. You would add coolant accordingly so that the level float comes up to the fill level required. You should also check for cooling system leaks. If the coolant level float is at the correct level you may have a defective coolant level sensor. Proper coolant/antifreeze for your vehicle needs to be G48 compliant, such as this gallon of concentrate.

Our temperature ranges from -35C in winter to +35C in summer. Since it gets so cold, should I still keep the 50/50 mixture or should I adjust?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
There is a recommended mix chart on the back of the bottle with temperature ranges. There isn't much of a difference in hot protection between a 50/50 or 60/40 antifreeze to water mix. The 50/50 mix is good until -37C and the 60/40 mix is good until -52C.

I now have 69000 miles on my 2017 BMW X5 when am I supposed to change the coolant my manual does not mention any maintenance intervals
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
BMW antifreeze is usually good for 100,000 miles. Of course, you can change it earlier if you'd like.

I have a 530i 2006 bmw. Warning light sails coolant level very low. How many gallons do I need to get? And do I have to mix 50/50 ratio to distilled water?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
We recommend checking the cooling system for leaks first. If there are no leaks and your coolant level is low and you're just looking to top off the level in the expansion tank (as opposed to draining and refilling the entire cooling system) consider purchasing the 1-liter bottle, p/n 82141467704. Pour in an equal amount of antifreeze and distilled water for a 50/50 mix. Any leftover can be stored in the bottle for future top-offs if needed.

I will be replacing my water pump and thermostat for my e46 325i , will I need 2 gallons of this ? Or just one
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Total system capacity is 8.4 liters including the heater core. When this antifreeze is mixed 50/50 you will have a total of 7.5 liters of coolant to refill the system. Normally 1 gallon of concentrate is enough and you will normally have some leftover mix. To be 100% covered we suggest ordering the 1-liter bottle in addition to this 1-gallon bottle, p/n 82142209769.
Question Posted by Lei
How long is the coolant expiration date? two year?three years? and after I open it can I still use it again after a few months?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Antifreeze does not have an expiration date in a sealed container. Once opened, undiluted antifreeze is good for up to 8 years.

I feel like a mix of 70%coolant and 30%distilled water will be better for the car because I don't feel distilled water will be reliable for cooling. Do you think this is a good idea?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
No, a 70/30 mix is not a good idea. 70/30 mix will lower the freezing point to -67 degrees F and to raise the boiling temperature to 235 degrees F. But a 70/30 mixture of antifreeze and water will not conduct heat as efficiently as a 50/50 mixture because the thermal capacity of antifreeze is not as high as water. A 50/50 mix as noted is the best concentration for both cooling system efficiency and protection.
