BMW Drive Belt Tensioner Assembly - INA 11281742858
  • Open uri20140926 15839 1wrm87a

Includes drive belt pulleys, does not include hydraulic damper

The drive belt tensioner is responsible for maintaining constant tension on the drive belt. If the drive belt is slipping you will often times hear a squealing sound it is likely due to a worn tensioner assembly that is not properly applying the correct tension to the drive belt. This complete assembly is the ideal replacement.

If you also require the hydraulic damper please see p/n 11281709613.

I can't rate the longevity of this since my dad's E39 has had it on for around a month, although I believe this was the issue with his belt being loose. Trying to figure out how to tighten a serpentine belt on it was a complete PITA. You need to get a 16/17/18mm(?) socket or wrench to hold the upper welded bolt area (not the bolt itself, but the metal piece where the bolt inserts into) furthest to the right and push toward the passenger side of the engine bay. This is how you tension the tensioner. You need to do tighten the middle bolt which is lower between the two bolts. while you have it tensioned to 16ft lbs.

Some of the reviewers above may have been rewarded for their positive & negative reviews. We don't hold anything back.
