Was chasing the common E46 "mystery washer fluid leak". Changed out the pump and the grommet/strainer you buy separately. Get both. Easy 10-15 minute job (if you aren't missing the heat shield, I still have mine although it took a while to figure out re-install). In replacing both I have much better pump pressure and the washer fluid leak is gone. No more washer fluid dash lights and a nice clean windshield... If I could just get wiper blades that fit... the Bosch ones I ordered are too big according to my caliper - which explains why they didn't go on. Waiting for some feedback on those. Recommend the pump, it's cheap and easy to replace.
