Question Posted by a customer
Any idea how cold is has to be for this to immobilize an engine?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Not sure what you're specifically asking. Engine oil would not immobilize an engine due to cold temperatures as engine oil does not freeze. Different oils have different flow characteristics when cold, but this being a fully synthetic multi-grade engine oil means it has good flow characteristics when cold and good lubrication properties when up to operating temperature. This oil is rated by LiquiMoly for all season use.

You are wrong about this oil not being applicable to run in Volvos. The API specs from 1996 are obsolete. SN is now applicable. This would be a great oil.
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
This oil can run on older Volvos. It is backwards compatible. Our fitment guide falls in line with engine splits and manufacturing based on the time cars were produced. Before the 2000's Volvos did not require synthetic oil. Current Volvo Specs for North America are only A1/B1, which most oils meet. Our most popular oil for older Volvos is the 10W40 MoS2 oil. Along with the 5W40 Leichtlauf and the 5W30 Special Tec you can use these in modern Volvos circa 1999-2013. Another spec that Volvo has used since the 2000s is Volvo VCC 95200377 and this is used world wide. We have the 0W30 Special Tec V product # LM20204 that fulfills this spec. An SN rating is a Japanese market spec and it is very vague. You can check out a spec comparison [HERE](https://online.lubrizol.com/relperftool/pc.html)

Is there a reason why this oil wouldn't be good for a 1996 Volvo 850t5?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
The reason why this oil is not listed as it fits in our fitment guide is that during the 90's Volvo used non-synthetic oils. This Oils is however backwards compatible. Current Volvo specs in North America only require A1/B1 approvals which most oils synthetic and non synthetic meet. Our most popular option is the 10W40 MoS2 oil from Liqui Moly for these applications.
