Next, use your positive lead on your jumper wire to contact the positive terminal on the relay. If the motor is functioning now, you have to inspect your gear mechanism on the inside of your motor assembly. Find your Volkswagen’s grounding strap. You will find end of it fastened to the motor case. The other end is fastened to one of the wiper motor bolts. Once you find the grounding strap, take away the bolt that is grounded to with your open-end box-end wrench or ratchet set. Set the ground strap to the side. Next, take off any other bolts and carefully pull the washer motor out of the mount and remove it from the engine. Align the mounting holes on the new motor with the mount bolts on the firewall. Press the motor onto the bolts and fasten it in place with your mounting nuts. Secure the nuts in a star pattern so your washer motor is flat against the firewall, then put back your wiper motor grounding strap. You are ready to use your fused jumper wire to check your Volkswagen’s new motor functionality. The motor should rotate by itself. Detach your jumper wire leads and put in the connector to the relay.
