Audi Drive Belt Parts

Audi holds its main epicenter of manufacturing and operations from their headquarters in, Bavaria, Germany. Prior to building the some of the most advanced luxury performance vehicles on the auto market today, they were part of an expansive history of technologically driven ideas that transformed the auto industry. Audi’s famous four ring logo symbolizes their intuitive engineering. Their famous brand motto, "Progress through Technology", is their main philosophy and that pushes their development throughout Audi’s vehicle line. The brand makes sure to inspire their team and customers through revolutionary engineering and modern designs that have become relative with Audi’s name. Your Audi’s interior drive belts run your engine’s accessories, like your power steering and air conditioning. They also manage your vehicle’s charging system that keeps your battery charged. These drive belts are made of composite materials and work intensely, allowing the materials to sometimes stretch, fray, crack and get brittle over time. At some point or another, they will have to be replaced. To replace your Audi’s drive belt, the first thing to do is turn the engine off and lift up your hood. Now, find your Audi’s engine drive belts, which are controlled by your crankshaft pulley. The belts stretch through both sides of your engine’s front end. In addition to replacing the drive belts it is also necessary to replace the belt tensioner assemblies as these can suffer from pulley failures and the tensioner mechanism can slowly fail with old age. Brands such as Contitech also have complete drive belt kits that replace the belts and tensioners in one convenient kit. FCP Euro has an uniquely expansive selection of Audi drive belt parts and components, including their more general parts for the Audi brand.

Examine your Audi’s belts by rotating them sideways and checking for cracks, glazing, or noticeable signs of fraying. You may not be able to adjust belts if they are stretched belts. Belts that have stretched may not be able to be adjusted and have to be replaced. To swap out the belts, loosen the mounting bolts or nuts that it is connected to with either a socket wrench. You can utilize a pry bar or screwdriver to pull it towards the belt. This will allow the belt to get looser in order to come off the pulley. Take out the belt from the crankshaft pulley. You may have to take out some other belts to take out the replacement belt, as well, depending on where it is positioned. Put in your Audi’s new belt by putting it on the crankshaft pulley and then laying it over the pulley. Use your pry bar or screwdriver to properly place the accessory from the belt to firm up the slackening. Adjust the belt tension so that there is a 1/2" deflection, up or down. Put back any of the other belts you took out and adjust them by following the same process. You are now ready to turn on your engine and turn on the accessory running the belt that you replaced. Make sure that the belt that you took out is not slipping while the engine is running. If you notice the new belt is slipping, turn the engine off and adjust it again.
