About Audi 100
The Audi 100 dates back to 1968 with the first chassis being the C1 chassis, the production ended in 1994 of the C4 chassis. An Audi 100 was classified in the executive/ mid-size luxury car class with it being the first Audi model ever to hit 1,000,000 units. The Audi 100 was sporty with aerodynamics to reach 0.30 coefficients which helped the 100 to achieve improved fuel economy. This also allowed the Audi 100 to reach higher top speeds compared to cars with similar displacement. The Audi 100 C2 and C3 chassis was sold in the US as the Audi 5000 until 1988.The Audi 100 Avant was reintroduced for the C3 chassis as a station wagon based on the 100 platform. The 100 had several power plants throughout the years with stout 2.0 liter 5-cylinder diesel engines and 2.1 and 2.2 liter turbocharged inline 5 cylinders. Engines for North American Audi 100 models range in horsepower from 100hp to 220hp. Audi removed the 100 from its lineup in 1995 and replaced it with the Audi A6 name along with some styling changes.
